Mō te tūnga | About the role
As the Senior Project Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the strategic asset management elements of the Programme are delivered efficiently. This role involves proactively driving the delivery of multiple, complex projects by organising people and resources, setting deadlines and creating good quality project documentation.
You will need to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders, manage consultancy contracts, and handle project finances. Additionally, you must be able to demonstrate effective management of project governance, identify and manage project risks, ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, and maintain a focus on health, safety and wellbeing.
You will also be responsible for mentoring and guiding project managers and coordinators by providing leadership and support to ensure project success, while supporting the Asset Management team in embedding inclusion, diversity, and professional development.
Project focus for this role will be:
- Delivery of Vertical infrastructure projects – There is a requirement to consistently deliver projects to a high standard within live custodial environments. These projects require a high degree of pre-planning, consistent delivery, risk identification and management, a focus on health and safety and excellent stakeholder communication skills. These projects are required to be delivered quickly and effectively.
- Prison Capacity - In response to this capacity challenge, Asset Management is delivering infrastructure solutions to expand prison capacity. The strategy involves the urgent implementation of smaller-scale capacity enhancements.

To be successful in this role you will bring:
- Extensive project management experience in assets, property, or construction disciplines, with a track record of successfully delivering large-scale projects
- Skilled in identifying risks and issues, implementing solutions, and ensuring successful delivery
- Proficiency in compliance and reporting, including project monitoring, reporting, and experience working within frameworks such as P3M3, change management, and investment case drafting
- Excellent verbal and written skills to prepare reports, business cases, and effectively communicate technical information to diverse stakeholders
- Organisational and leadership abilities proven capability to manage projects, drive outcomes, and ensure delivery within budget and timeframe
- Stakeholder engagement ability to build strong relationships with internal and external teams, including technical experts and suppliers
- Flexibility to travel as required
Utu ā-tau | Salary
The midpoint of the salary range is $147,765 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $125,601 - $177,318 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
