The EPMO provides a centralised function that supports investment management, portfolio governance, best practice guidance, tools, and templates for the successful delivery of change into the business.
As a Senior Investment Adviser, you'll provide expert advice on investment planning and business case development. Sitting within the EPMO, you'll work closely with the Investment & Benefits Lead to provide support to senior leaders and project teams to ensure investment decisions are strategically aligned, evidence-based, and follow the Treasury's Better Business Case (BBC) methodology.
This is a pivotal role in supporting the agency to make well-informed, value-for-money investment decisions that contribute to long-term outcomes for Aotearoa New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and review of business cases in line with the BBC framework
- Provide strategic investment advice across programmes and major initiatives
- Build capability across the agency in investment management best practice
- Contribute to performance reporting, benefit realisation planning, and post-implementation reviews
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
We're looking for a strategic thinker with experience in public sector investment management and advice. You'll be confident navigating complex issues, building relationships at all levels, and influencing decision-makers with sound, evidence-based advice.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Proven experience in investment planning and business case development (BBC model preferred)
- Strong understanding of government investment frameworks and Treasury expectations
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience working within or alongside an EPMO or similar strategic function
- A collaborative, proactive mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
Utu ā-tau | Salary
The mid point of the salary range is $130,915 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $111,278 - $157,098 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
