Mō te tūnga | About the role
As a Kaiwhakahaere Kēhi (Case Manager) at Otago Corrections Facility, you will provide specialist, end-to-end management of those serving sentences as they work through programmes aimed at addressing rehabilitation and reintegration needs. The role includes all facets of case management from initial assessment, needs identification, case planning, and partnering with external agencies and the whānau of those in our care to support rehabilitation.
Case Managers lead rehabilitation and reintegration by using a person-centric approach. By focusing on the wellbeing of the person, you will help reduce the chances of them returning to past behaviour and help them to make better choices for a crime free future.
This is a full time, permanent opportunity based at Otago Corrections Facility.

Central to your success as a Case Manager is the ability to exercise sound professional judgement ensuring that a person's needs are appropriately identified, and the most appropriate treatment and programmes are matched to meet these needs.
We are looking for people who:
- Have experience in case management and/or rehabilitation and reintegration practices
- Strong written skills including the ability to prepare written reports
- Effective relationship building and communication skills
- An ability to motivate and support prisoners to make positive changes
- Can operate effectively in a Māori cultural setting and have an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Can operate with high levels of integrity
- Have a full, clean New Zealand driver licence
- A background or qualification in rehabilitative services, psychology, social work, or another related field is desirable, but not essential

The starting salary for this position is $70,956 - $75,947 per annum, with the ability to progress to $91,307 per annum.
